Chrysler Financial Auctions 'Freedom Jeep' to Benefit the USO

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 24 -- Chrysler Financial is demonstrating its commitment to help the men and women of the United States armed forces with a one-of-a-kind "Freedom Jeep(R)." The 2005 Jeep Wrangler X is slated for public auction on eBay(R) today with the proceeds being donated to the United Service Organizations (USO).

"We are honored that Chrysler Financial would choose the USO to be its partner in touching the lives of our brave men and women of the armed forces," said Michael D. Farley, Senior Vice President of Development for the USO.

Many leading public officials attending the "DaimlerChrysler Impact on America" exposition earlier this month in Washington, D.C. autographed this unique vehicle wrapped in red, white and blue patriotic themes.

More than 50 political and business leaders autographed the vehicle, including Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Sen. Carl Levin as well as congressmen Joe Knollenberg, John Dingell, John Conyers and Mike Rogers, Ohio Gov. Robert Taft and Rep. Marcy Kaptur, the first woman in U.S. history to sit on the House Committee on Armed Services Appropriations.

Jeep enthusiasts can place bids on eBay.com beginning today through July 4. The opening bid for the "Freedom Jeep" is $25,000.

The "Freedom Jeep" will also be on display at Camp Jeep On the Road in Milwaukee, Wis. June 25 and 26 for a free two-day Jeep event. Hours for Camp Jeep On the Road are 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday.
