TORRANCE, Calif. - (June 16, 2005) – At Edelbrock, high performance is a way of life. Today, two high-performing Southland high school seniors – with an aptitude for cars – were honored as recipients of the 2005 Vic and Nancy Edelbrock Scholarships. South Torrance High School’s Thomas Butler and Colin Rosenberg were introduced as the winners of the scholarships that honor the Edelbrock President & CEO and his wife, Nancy, who is on the company’s Board of Directors. Each student received a $1,250 scholarship.

Butler, 18, caught the attention of the scholarship committee due to recent rebuilds of a 1974 Chevy Nova and his father’s 1971 Chevy Chevelle SS. He recently received a South Torrance HS Laurel Award for Applied Technology, and plans to pursue a degree and career in education.

Rosenberg, 18, has raced go-karts for five years with plans to transition into auto racing in 2006. The first step for him will be attending the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Super School in October. He currently spends his afternoons working at StopTech, a high-performance brake company in Torrance, and plans to attend El Camino Community College in the fall.

The Vic and Nancy Edelbrock Scholarships were created in 2003, when Edelbrock employees decided to create a scholarship as their Christmas present to the company president & CEO and his wife. This is the third year of the scholarship program, which honors one or two Torrance Unified School District automotive technology students each year. “Nancy and I were delighted when the employees came up with the scholarship idea,” says Vic Edelbrock Jr. “We are honored by this gesture, and we think it’s a terrific way for these employees, who give so much effort for this company and who mean so much to us, to give back to our community.”
