Save the Date - Top Auto Tech Students Compete for $5 Million in Scholarships and Prizes

WHAT:      The 2005 Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals

           Two-person teams from all 50 states have advanced to the 
           national finals in Washington, D.C., where they will race 
           against the clock for the title of top student auto 
           technician team in the country. Each team will have 90 
           minutes to diagnose and fix deliberately "bugged" Ford 
           vehicles. A total of more than $5 million in scholarships 
           and prizes will be awarded.

WHEN:      Monday, June 27, 2005
           9:15 a.m. -10:45 a.m. - Competition
           11:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. - Trophy Presentations

         
WHERE:     Washington, D.C. - Ohio Drive and Independence Avenue
           South of the Lincoln Memorial (West Potomac Park.)
           (Satellite parking is available on Ohio Drive in parking 
           lot A, approximately 3/4 of a mile south of the competition
           site. A dedicated shuttle van will be available for the 
           media.)

WHY:       There is a growing need for skilled auto technicians and 
           the contest will showcase the top young talent in the 
           nation as an incentive to the competitors and other young 
           people with an interest in the profession. Winners will 
           receive scholarships to help further their education in the
           auto technician field. More than 6,000 students from all 
           50 states will have competed in the 2005 Ford/AAA Student
           Auto Skills competition.


About the Ford/AAA Auto Skills Competition: The Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition is for high school juniors and seniors enrolled in high school automotive technology courses. The two-student teams are tested on their ability to accurately diagnose and service identically "bugged" vehicles. The top winning teams from each state earn the right to compete for national prizes and recognition at the national finals in Washington, D.C.
