EDTA Capital Hill Briefing: Transforming Transportation;
Opportunities in Energy Policy and Mobility Technology
--Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA)
What: Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) Capitol Hill
Briefing: Transforming Transportation: Opportunities in Energy
Policy and Mobility Technology
When: Wednesday, June 22, 2005 from 9:30am-12:00pm
Where: 428A Russell Senate Office Building (Small Business Committee
Room)
Who: David Garman, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and
Renewable Energy, U.S.
Department of Energy
Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR)
Congressman John T. Doolittle (R-CA)
Why: Electric drive is a proven solution for three critical issues
that America faces: dependence on foreign oil, pollution and
greenhouse gas emissions. America's national energy policy must
include provisions that will accelerate the use of battery, hybrid and
fuel cell electric drive vehicles by consumers and fleets, hasten
progress toward the adoption of fuel cell technology, and ultimately,
make sustainable mobility a reality in the United States.
Throughout the morning, EDTA members will hear from Congressional and
Administration leaders who will provide insights into the policy and
politics that are driving Washington's approach to transportation.
Assistant Secretary of Energy David Garman, Senators Hatch and Wyden,
and Congressman Doolittle are key energy and transportation policy
leaders who are uniquely qualified to discuss opportunities and
obstacles to transforming the nation's transportation sector with
cleaner, more efficient electric drive technologies.
