Land Rover Expert's Success Touches Loved One in Iraq

Winning Sales Guide Reaches Wife in Kirkuk, Iraq

IRVINE, Calif., June 14 -- Land Rover North America named Jason Glass of Land Rover Colorado Springs winner of the first-ever national walk-around competition for LR3. Glass, whose wife was watching a live webcast of the event while on active duty in Iraq, bested three other finalists from Land Rover Parsippany, Land Rover Cincinnati and Land Rover Palm Beach to emerge as the winner of a $10,000 cash prize and trip to Hawaii.

Held at Land Rover's North American headquarters in Irvine, the final walk-around competition was the culmination of a series of regional elimination tournaments over a three-month period designed to select the nation's top sales guide.

Shown live across the world on the web, the contestants had fifteen minutes to deliver a compelling LR3 product presentation in a hypothetical retail situation. They were evaluated on overall product knowledge, ability to speak to a consumer's points of interest and overall enthusiasm.

"My drive to succeed in this competition was not only to develop my skills as a sales guide, but to reward my wife with something we can share upon her return," said Glass.

Judges included an executive panel of three from Land Rover, as well as Kim Reynolds, Motor Trend magazine's technical editor. Reynolds commented, "Jason's extensive product knowledge and enthusiasm were key factors in our decision. His presentation style and ability to think quickly on his feet will be appealing to a lot of customers."

The "walk-around" concept is an educational tool designed to help sales guides present Land Rover product information. It is part of "The Land Rover Way" which is a corporate set of guidelines implemented at every Retail store.

"The level of enthusiasm for this event within the retail community is testament to the importance of this vehicle," says Pat Ward, vice president Retail Operations, Land Rover North America. "It demonstrates a passion to understand the product and a challenge to be the best in the business."

The event was open to the 164 Land Rover retailers in the U.S. and over 450 applications were received.
