Brain Injury Association of Arizona Stresses Motorcycle Safety
Who: The Brain Injury Association of Arizona and T.E.A.M. Motorcyclist

What: BIAAZ available to discuss the organization's experience with
motorcyclists who suffered a traumatic brain injury because they
did not wear a helmet. Mark Weiss, training director for
T.E.A.M., to discuss the important role helmets play in its
overall motorcycle safety curriculum.
Why: May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. There were more than
2,400 motorcycle crashes in Arizona in 2003, with 11 fatalities,
an increase of 16 percent from 2002. According to the National
Highway Transportation Safety Administration, helmetless driver
involved in an accident is three times as likely to suffer a
brain injury as a motorcyclist wearing a helmet, and a large
number of motorcyclists die each year because of head injuries
sustained in accidents.
Where: At the BIAAZ offices at 4250 E. Camelback Road and/or at the
T.E.A.M. training facility at 36 N Wm Dillard Dr,
Gilbert. T.E.A.M has the only purpose-built motorcycle training
facility in the state.
