With Problematic Car Thefts Increasing, MicroTRAK's AutoTRAK GPS Will Be the Solution

DALLAS--April 21, 2005--Every 27 seconds, a motor vehicle is stolen in the United States and more than 200,000 auto theft vehicles are exported illegally from the United States every year. MicroTRAK Inc. (MIOK) (Pink Sheets:MIOK), www.microtrakgps.com, has produced an automotive tracking device(AutoTRAK GPS), which provides in-vehicle hardware and wireless location services.

Car thieves have many motivations and the most common ploy of the professional criminal is to steal vehicles in order to obtain the parts. Selling the parts of a car individually may bring a criminal two to three times more profit than what he could get selling the vehicle intact. Most often thieves work with other criminals to set up "chop shops" that can strip a car down to its component parts in a matter of thirty minutes. These parts go into an infamous auto parts network (service repair shops and individual mechanics) in which the stolen parts can be purchased at a discount.

Often thieves will take the vehicle across state lines, where its identification numbers are altered to match forged (or fraudulently obtained) titles and registration papers. Another common ploy is to ship the stolen vehicles overseas. A vehicle stolen in a port city can often be in a shipping container, ready to be sent overseas within hours of its theft.

Car thefts almost always result in the theft of personal property left in the vehicles. Many auto thieves get away with your personal items like checkbooks, bank deposit slips, credit cards and credit card receipts that can lead to credit card and/or bank fraud.

The latest FBI Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) have stated that motor vehicle thefts in 2001 were up 5.7 percent over the year 2000, and in 2001 has had 1,246,096 (approx. 20 thousand more than the year before) car thefts with an estimated value of approximately $8.2 billion in the United States.(1)

MIOK's solution is AutoTRAK GPS, which can track your vehicle, via satellite, anywhere in the United States and in parts of Canada and Mexico. The consumer can easily find their vehicle in real-time, night or day circumstances, through any computer with Internet access. If the consumer's vehicle has been moved out of its place, AutoTRAK GPS will trigger an alert and the consumer will be notified by either phone or e-mail. With a 3-year recovery warranty and up to a $5,000 theft benefit, no one on the market can compete with the AutoTRAK GPS. The AutoTRAK GPS is now currently on the market and ready for distribution.
