Company showcase in 2005 Shanghai Auto Show

ANDERSON, Ind., April 21 -- Remy International, Inc., has formed a wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE), Remy Electricals (China) Company Limited in Shajing, Guangdong Province of China which will significantly expand Remy's presence in the region. The facility will launch operations in May 2005 to satisfy Remy's new business demand in China and meet rapidly growing opportunities. Remy will begin production later this year in a 17,000 sq. m. facility in Shajing with significant expansion possible in the future. This major expansion will add more than 2.2 million units of annual capacity for the manufacture of new Delco Remy and Remy brand starters and alternators.

This latest initiative by Remy is designed to accommodate the rapidly emerging local market in China where forecasted growth in vehicle demand continues to be among the fastest in the world. In 2003 Remy acquired a majority ownership in an alternator operation, Remy Electricals Hubei Company, Ltd. in Jingzhou, Hubei Province. For over 10 years, this company has manufactured and sold licensed product to the top China OEMs. Additionally, Remy International (Shanghai) Representative Office, located in the Shanghai Centre on Nanjing Road in Shanghai, was established in November 2002 and is the base for Remy domestic sales and purchasing.
