Road Rescue Introduces New, All-Aluminum Duramedic Ambulance

MARION, S.C., April 14 -- Road Rescue, Inc. (http://www.roadrescue.com/ ), a leading engineer and manufacturer of modular ambulances and specialty vehicles, is displaying its first "all aluminum" Duramedic ambulance this week at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind., April 11 - April 16 (Booth #2649).

The Duramedic is the first ever to include cabinets made exclusively of aluminum. Road Rescue, a subsidiary of Charlotte, Mich.-based Spartan Motors, Inc. designed the new ambulance to satisfy needs identified as being most important to customers, including safety and durability.

The display unit is mounted on a Ford E350 chassis and is notable for several other new features aimed at making the vehicle and crew safer. These include hand-rails treated with AgION (http://www.agion-tech.com/ ), an anti- microbial coating used in sterile health care environments, which helps minimize pathogen contamination. Road Rescue plans on offering the anti- microbial coating on future units.

"We're looking to innovation and technology to help us make a safer ambulance," said Richard Hamilton, vice president of Road Rescue. "We are specifically focused on manufacturing processes which make the ambulance easier to clean and less susceptible to contaminants while creating a safer, stronger box for patient care and transport. Along with innovations such as AgION, we are taking steps to make the safest ambulances on the road for both paramedics and patients."
