AAA Texas: Monthly Average Gas Price Soars to New Record; AAA Texas Monthly Fuel Gauge Report
IRVING, Texas--April 13, 2005--After breaking the previous all-time record high average price for self-serve regular gasoline in March, fuel prices have skyrocketed an additional 22 cents a gallon to $2.169 - a new monthly all-time record price.The current average is also 52 cents higher than last year's monthly average price of $1.649 a gallon, according to AAA Texas.
"In recent weeks we've seen gasoline prices reflect the run-up in crude prices," said Rose Rougeau, AAA Texas spokesperson. "High oil prices and speculation have driven gasoline prices up 46 cents a gallon since the beginning of the year. Motorists can help control their fuel costs by modifying their driving habits, combining errands, using mass transit, and even walking when possible."
The lowest average price in Texas is in San Antonio, where regular is selling for $2.141. Amarillo reported the state's highest average price at $2.206. Nationally, the average price is $2.266, up from $2.048 in March.
