Toyota Introduces Spring Traffic Safety Campaign

Tokyo Mar 29, 2005; Dale Hug writing for JCNN reported that Toyota announced that a consotium, including 432 other companies such as vehicle dealers, logistics systems and forklift dealers, parts distributors and rental/lease dealers, will conduct the spring Toyota Traffic Safety Campaign from April 1 to 30, to coincide with Japan's spring Nationwide Traffic Safety Campaign, which occurs from April 6 to 15.

This year, Toyota will begin using its own educational tools in these activities and will focus on preventing accidents that could occur if children suddenly run out into the street, and the promotion of the proper use of child restraint systems.

Toyota will donate 2.67 million traffic safety picture books to children entering kindergartens and nursery schools nationwide, as well as 44,000 traffic safety picture-story shows to kindergartens, nursery schools, libraries and children's facilities throughout the country.

Toyota has also designed special leaflets to raise the awareness of both children and vehicle drivers regarding this year's campaign themes. These leaflets will be distributed via vehicle dealers, parts distributors and rental/lease dealers nationwide.

This year marks the 37th year that Toyota has been involved in these activities, which began in 1969, and to date the company has donated a total of some 110 million picture books and around 1.06 million traffic safety picture-story shows.
