Call for Nominations - NAWBO Salutes Automotive Women

DETROIT, March 14 -- The National Association of Women Business Owners Greater Detroit Chapter will be honoring the best and brightest women in the automotive sector on May 20, 2005, at "Salute to Automotive Women" sponsored by DaimlerChrysler. The black tie optional awards and dinner reception will take place at Rochester's Royal Park Hotel. Courtney Caldwell, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Road & Travel Magazine, will be the Mistress of Ceremonies.

Nominations are being accepted for candidates for the following categories:

* Presidential Diversity Award: A woman who has demonstrated leadership in, or advocated for, diversity within the automotive industry, and who understands the benefits that a diversified workforce and supplier base brings to the bottom-line.

* Engineering/Design Award: A woman who has excelled in the automotive engineering and/or design arena, implementing and/or creating new ideas, solving problems and taking on new challenges.

* Manufacturing Award: A woman-owned business that is engaged in automotive-related manufacturing, demonstrating excellence in her industry and commitment to product quality.

* Advertising/Marketing Award: A woman working in the automotive industry, or a woman-owned agency, that has excelled in marketing and advertising automotive products.

* Procurement Award: A woman who is leading initiatives, visibly promotes, and/or facilitates procurement between the automotive industry and women-owned businesses.

* Woman-Owned Dealer Award: A women-owned dealership that represents excellence in the sales and customer service arena.

Finalists will be notified the week of April 10 and will be required to participate in a telephone interview with the judges' panel.

The Greater Detroit Chapter has a membership of the finest women entrepreneurs in the area who share their experience and empower each other through NAWBO membership. Their businesses range from sole proprietorship operations to those with nearly 200 employees. Among those are lawyers, financial consultants, printers, physicians, media specialists, event planners, manufacturers and property managers.
