Introducing Four New All-Wheel-Steer Loaders from Gehl

WEST BEND, Wis.--March 11, 2005--Gehl Company, a leading manufacturer of compact construction and agriculture equipment headquartered in West Bend, Wisconsin, is proud to announce the introduction of four new 80-Series All-Wheel-Steer (AWS) Loaders. The new Gehl model 280, 480, 480T (telescopic) and 680 AWS Loaders are fitted with "intelligent drive" technology for smooth work cycles. They are designed with four-wheel steering and a one-piece chassis, providing superior maneuverability, stability and tractive power. The new 80-Series have the tightest turning radii in the compact loader market today.

The Gehl All-Wheel-Steer loaders productivity is maximized through the use of an exclusive all-wheel-steering design, which features unmatched maneuverability and consistent load capacities throughout a loading cycle. Because of their compact size and superior steering angles, the Gehl AWS Loaders can work in more confined spaces than articulated loaders. Because the machine's center-of-gravity does not move during a steering cycle, load capacities are not reduced while turning.

The 80-Series AWS Loaders feature operating weights from 7,055 to 12,015 pounds, bucket capacities from 1.44 to 2.35 cubic yards and rated operating loads from 4,055 to 5,700 pounds. EPA Tier II diesel engines range from 38 to 76 horsepower and are standard on all models.

These machines have other features as well, such as "intelligent drive" technology. When the loader is driven into a pile of material, speed is automatically reduced and tractive effort is increased. This occurs without the operator needing to change gears.

The loader's pilot-controlled hydraulic system allows precise handling of loads with minimal effort. No matter what the application is, the joystick's comfortable operation is ideal for any operator.

The spacious operator station provides pilot-assisted controls that are easy-to-reach and easy-to-operate, optimizing operator precision and productivity. The loader's pilot-controlled hydraulic system allows precise handling of loads with minimal effort. No matter what the application is, the joystick's comfortable operation is ideal for any operator.

The view from the vibration-insulated enclosed cab is a full 360 degrees. The cab has doors on both sides, permitting an operator access from either side when operating in tight work areas. The model 280 is also available with a 2-post folding ROPS, which allows entrance into low buildings.

The hydraulic quick-hitch feature makes for fast and easy changes of attachments from the operator's seat. This quick-hitch feature includes hydraulic lines that come standard with quick couplers for use as a joystick-controlled auxiliary hydraulic circuit. The Skid-A-Tach(TM) system is also available for utilizing almost any skid-steer loader attachment.

Another innovation, the exclusive, optional Ecospeed(TM) high-speed gearbox gives users additional decisive advantages. This feature makes full use of the loader's tractive power from 0 to 12 mph, but also allows the unit to seamlessly achieve speeds up to 25 mph. Over its entire speed range, the loader operates on the optimal performance curve of the diesel engine, reducing both fuel consumption and noise emissions.
