Dorman Delivers 100% NEW Brake Caliper Assemblies to the Automotive Aftermarket

COLMAR, Pa., Feb. 28, 2005 -- Capitalizing on another first in NEW-to-the-Aftermarket automotive products, Dorman started shipping 100% NEW brake caliper assemblies to their customers this week. 100% NEW Dorman brake caliper assemblies offer an alternative to the "remanufactured" calipers, currently the only option available in the Automotive Aftermarket. These assemblies feature all NEW pistons, seals, castings and a zinc chromate plating that is superior to phosphate coating in preventing corrosion. Dorman brake caliper assemblies also include all new "built-in" brake hardware and application-specific instruction sheets instead of "one-size-fits-most" instruction sheets for easier installation.

"When you see a New Dorman brake caliper assembly next to anything currently available in the marketplace, there is no comparison," stated Mike Kealey, Director of Dorman Brake Products. "We set out to produce a product of such high quality and with so many obvious advantages, that the choice between NEW and Remanufactured would be unmistakable," added Kealey.

Dorman has made improvements to the brake caliper design including a "Dorman engineered" seal and groove package for consistent seal compression and function as well as casting to exact dimensions and tolerances. OE and remanufactured GM "W-Body" calipers use steel guide sleeves which cause corrosion and seizing. Dorman units prevent this situation by utilizing an anodized aluminum guide sleeve. "We are not only making the caliper NEW, we are making it BETTER," Kealey declared. Dorman is currently providing 60 SKUs for the most popular applications, including GM, Ford and selected imports, with additional applications coming soon.
