AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Second Week of Lower Prices
IRVING, Texas--Feb. 18, 2005--Gasoline prices continued lower for the second week in a row last week, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.The statewide average price for regular self-serve gasoline fell a penny to $1.801.
Corpus Christi has the lowest average at $1.682 a gallon, down 4.4 cents. Dallas remains the highest at $1.823 a gallon, down 1.4 cents from last week, and 25.1 cents higher than last year's average of $1.572 a gallon.
"Nationwide, there have been ample supplies of gasoline and that has helped push pump prices lower," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "The downward trend may bottom out in the coming weeks as crude oil prices have risen to near $48 per barrel on continuing political instability in the Middle East."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $1.898, unchanged from last week.
