Share the Road Program Visits Florida to Save Lives on Florida Highways

Over 250,000 Fans Will Travel Through Daytona During Speedweek; America's Safest Highway Drivers Will Demonstrate How Fans Can be as Safe as the NASCAR Drivers at the Daytona International Speedway

DAYTONA, Fla., Feb. 17 -- The American Trucking Associations and Florida Highway Patrol will demonstrate safety measures for Daytona Speedweek.

Patrol, and the Florida Trucking Association.

What: A demonstration of critical highway safety measures will be
conducted for news media, as part of the national Share the

demonstrate safety measures critical to saving lives on the
highways during Speedweek at the Daytona International
Speedway. A static demonstration with simulated highway lanes
will show how cars and trucks get into accidents. A
professional truck driver will offer tips on blind spots,
safe-merging techniques, and stopping and following distances.

This safety advice is critical for Daytona fans because:

              * 35% of all truck-involved highway fatalities occur in a
truck's blind spots (Federal Motor Carrier Safety
                Administration).

              * Most drivers were never taught how to share the road safely
                with trucks.

              * Watching this demonstration will help reduce accidents and
                save lives.

Directions: From I-95 take International Speedway Blvd. east. Turn right
onto Williamson then left onto Midway Blvd. Enter through
