Watch Out Auto Trader!- NY Magazine Publisher After your Ass-ets Expanding Auto Guide Business

NEW YORK--Feb. 1, 20056, 2005--PRIMEDIA Inc.'s Consumer Guides, the country's largest publisher and distributor of apartment, new home and auto guides, today announced another step in its Auto Guide strategy with its entrance into the Atlanta auto market through the acquisition of Atlanta Cars Magazine, the leading provider of new and used car, SUV and truck listings from dealerships in the Atlanta area. With the addition of this category-leading weekly color publication and its online property, atlantacars.com, PRIMEDIA's Auto Guide business enters the attractive Atlanta market. PRIMEDIA also gains the expertise of Atlanta Cars Magazine Founder and President Greg Elam, an industry veteran, to jointly start Auto Guides in additional U.S. markets over the next two years. Elam will serve as president and publisher of these new publications, leveraging his expertise in the automotive publication market. Financial terms were not disclosed.

PRIMEDIA's continuing penetration into the Auto Guide business provides another channel to raise its market leading position in the $8.5 billion automotive advertising market and capitalizes on the operating experience, financial strength and reach of its proven Consumer Guides business and its wholly-owned distribution arm, DistribuTech, which distributes free publications in more than 49,000 locations across the nation. DistribuTech's distinct competitive advantages include having many of the largest and most attractive grocery, drug, and entertainment retailers under exclusive agreements and make it an ideal platform for rapid, successful entry and growth into new markets, evidenced by PRIMEDIA's highly successful Apartment Guide business and five recent New Home Guide and Auto Guide launches.

Recently, PRIMEDIA announced the launch of The Triangle Auto Shoppers Guide, which serves the Research Triangle, NC area. The Triangle launch follows the successful launch of the Triad Auto Guide, which debuted in the Triad Area (Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem, NC) in November 2004, and the Charlotte Auto Guide, which debuted in the Charlotte, NC market in March of 2004.
