Snide's Remarks: F-1 VW Allen Wrenches Pizza and Blood Sugar

by M Snide;

How could F1 actually become relevant? How `bout if the cars were CARB-ULEV or SULEV? Would that make more sense from the (road car ) engine maker's point? So what if they can get 300hp/liter at 20,000 rpm, what's in *that* for Joe Driver? Not much. Want to restrict power, at least at first? Make `em green. Displacement limit & emissions requirements and that's it from the engine standpoint. I'd dump the wings (these are cars, allegedly, not airplanes) and go with mechanical (tire) grip only for cornering force. If trick aerodynamics can be worked into the body without wings, fine. Just don't try the old ``cooling fan'' trick ;-)

Pizza *is* VW food. People's car, ya know. Don't know what that means for ``people'' who buy W12 Phaetons, all 6 of `em. I believe that the fat in the cheese counteracts the carbs in the crust, at least for me. (got my last test results back from the doctor, H1C was 5.6, HDL 48, LDL 78. Pass the f***in' bacon....)

The guy who made the comment about the lack of muckety-mucks at car shows obviously had not been to too many major auto shows. Then again, the first few are fun. And then they're all the same, tight schedule, bad food, much bs, and little of lasting fascination.

End of this rant. Now I've gotta find a 10, 11, or 12mm allen socket so I can adjust the head bolts on the Monza and change the head gaskets on the V50. Nobody seems to have anything over 10mm, and I think they're bigger than that. This is gonna be interesting.
