PHD Audiophile Sound Systems Enters U.S. Market with Full-Line of Car Audio Speakers Including World's First Six-Voice Coil Subwoofer

MIAMI--Jan. 2, 20055, 2005--PHD Audiophile Sound Systems, maker of hand-crafted Italian car audio speakers, announced at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show plans to enter the U.S. market with a complete line of speaker products that features the Esacoil, the world's first ever six-voice coil subwoofer.

While the audio market has developed new technologies in terms of music reproduction, the speaker--the last link--has not changed in more than a century. "The debut of the Esacoil presents tremendous opportunity for PHD and its lines of products because it represents a new concept in the acoustic field," said Ed Renner, VP Sales & Marketing, PHD Audiophile Sound Systems.

According to Renner, the Esacoil combines the advantages of a conventional subwoofer with the benefit of using isodynamic/electrostatic (fast response) in an all-in-one solution. Made with die-cast aluminum, the Esacoil is faster than other conventional speakers due to the six voice coils, the magnetic power engine and its light cone, which helps provide a more natural response given the lower momentum and a lower inertia.

"The Esacoil can be considered a 'two in one' speaker. It is a woofer plus midrange all in one because it can reproduce in the lowest frequency, yet it has a fast response of 29.01 Hz, due to the six coils and special light cone," explains Daniele Baiano, PHD Head Engineer. "The six voice coils have been made with thinner copper wire compared to other speakers of the same size since the total power is divided into six. Thinner wire provides a more detailed sound quality and linear response."

PHD has a long heritage for utilizing hand-crafted, high-tech materials in every product it manufactures, and has been an OEM supplier in the past for a number of large mobile electronics companies and for such precision automobiles as Ferrari and Mercedes. PHD also markets speakers in the U.S. under the Diablo brand name.
