Bose Automotive Audio Achieves Highest J.D. Power and Associates Brand Score in the U.S. Two Years in a Row

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--Dec. 6, 2004--

Bose Continues to Be Recognized by U.S. Consumers for Audio Brand Strength

For the second consecutive year, Bose is recognized as having the strongest brand power in the United States among audio brands included in the J.D. Power and Associates 2004 Global Automotive Component Branding Study(SM). The study measures the relative strength of select audio brands based on the unaided awareness, aided awareness, and impression of the brands recognized by consumers.

In this year's study, U.S. consumers surveyed identified sound quality as the factor that most influences their car audio purchasing decision. According to the study, nearly nine-in-ten U.S. consumers aware of the Bose automotive audio brand agree that Bose products offer superior sound quality.

"Our ultimate goal is to provide automotive audio systems that enhance the overall driving experience for vehicle owners, and the results of the J.D. Power and Associates 2004 Global Component Automotive Branding Study(SM) demonstrate that Bose continues to achieve that goal with consumers in the U.S.," notes Brandon Westley, vice president of Bose Automotive Systems Division.

Bose employs its signature Clean Sheet approach with each automotive sound system it designs. Vehicle and sound system are engineered together from the ground up so that the elements of the system work with the unique acoustic characteristics of the vehicle's interior.

Bose engineers take more than a thousand individual acoustic measurements inside the vehicle cabin, and the data collected from this analysis is used to configure and tune a sound system specifically for that vehicle model. Using this approach, Bose engineers aim to design a system that allows both driver and passengers to hear the power and nuance of each instrument and voice. The sound seems more spacious than the cabin itself, and the system delivers music with such clarity, many people hear details they've never noticed before.
