New Bearing Facility in Slovakia Marks EnPro's Third New Facility Opening in Three Months

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 15, 2004 -- GGB, a unit of EnPro Industries, Inc. , today officially opened a new manufacturing plant in Slovakia, marking the third new production facility an EnPro business has dedicated since September, 2004.

"The state-of-the-art facility GGB has built in Slovakia is a vital example of EnPro's business strategy," said Ernie Schaub, president and chief executive officer. "It provides us with cost-effective manufacturing, establishes us in a rapidly growing market, strengthens our competitive position and improves our responsiveness to our customers' needs."

Situated near the town of Martin in the north central part of Slovakia, the facility has already begun production of GGB's metal-polymer plain bearings. The new plant consolidates production from GGB facilities in Scotland and nearby Dolny Kubin, Slovakia. GGB was formerly known as Glacier Garlock Bearings.

The GGB facility joins a new Quincy Compressor facility in China and a new France Compressor Products facility in Houston, Texas. Quincy Compressor officially opened a facility in Kunshan, China in September to serve the rapidly growing markets of China and Asia. The operation, which assembles rotary compressors, shipped its first products in June.

France Compressor Products dedicated its new facility near Houston, Texas, on November 12. The new facility consolidates production from other locations in North America, eliminating excess capacity and moving France Compressor closer to its oil and gas customers on the Gulf Coast of the United States. Production at the facility began earlier this year.
