ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Nov. 1, 20045, 2004--PRIMEDIA Inc. , the leading targeted media company, today announced the redesign of AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE, America's leading automotive lifestyle publication. Turning the page on a bold new look, the December 2004 issue debuts its next evolution with new typefaces and automotive reports, while maintaining the rich flavor of car culture for which it is known and trusted by more than 3.5 million readers. The redesign reaffirms PRIMEDIA's continued commitment to investing in editorial and visual excellence.

"We're once again elevating the standard of our writing and photojournalism, while staying true to the opinionated, entertaining, and sophisticated style AUTOMOBILE is known for," said Jean Jennings, editor-in-chief of AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE.

AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE broke the traditional car magazine mold when it debuted in 1986 with the goal of making a magazine that would look and feel as important as the cars it covered. The redesign furthers AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE's level of sophistication and refinement with new typefaces, more news, more reviews of fresh iron, more newsmakers, spy photos and reports about gear. This revamped approach will carry the magazine into 2005 with a wide variety of opinionated coverage that makes AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE one of the most avant-garde, well written, and interesting car magazines on the market.

The architect of the redesign, Creative Director Richard Eccleston, was recruited to AUTOMOBILE from the United Kingdom earlier this year. Eccleston's credits include creative posts at popular titles such as Autocar, Stuff, and Classic FM and industry recognition as the 2003 Designer of the Year from Haymarket Publishing.

"With this redesign, the AUTOMOBILE editorial team was focused on infusing the publication with a new passion for delivering the best scoops, the hottest metal, and intriguing, opinionated car comparisons in the most artful and entertaining way," said Eccleston.

On newsstands now, must-reads in the December 2004 issue include a review of the Paris automobile show and the industry disarray on display there; Volkswagen's return to its roots with the new GTI; a titanic clash between performance icons Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche 911; and a timely and provocative interview with GM's Rick Wagoner.

"We've created an exciting new experience for our readers, who live their automotive dreams vicariously through the pages of the magazine," said Jennings.
