UAW Launches Second Wave of Ad Campaign Supporting Kerry

New radio spots on jobs and health care will run in six battleground states

DETROIT, Oct. 25 -- UAW President Ron Gettelfinger today announced that UAW V-CAP will launch the second wave of its independent expenditure ad campaign in support of John Kerry on Tuesday. The $2.5 million advertising buy is funded by UAW members' voluntary contributions to the UAW Voluntary Community Action Program (UAW V-CAP), the union's federal political action committee. The first wave of UAW V-CAP's independent expenditure ad campaign was a $2.3 million TV and radio buy in eight battleground states.

New radio spots on jobs and health care will start running Tuesday morning in major media markets in six battleground states: Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

A third radio spot -- "She's at it again" -- will run in selected markets in Michigan. The spot rebuts Michigan Republican Party Chair Betsy DeVos' recent attacks on Kerry and outlines Sen. Kerry's strategy for expanding automotive production and jobs in America.

In addition, UAW V-CAP's 30-second TV spot, "Wrong Choices, Wrong Leader," will run nationally on CNN's "Inside Politics," "The Paula Zahn Show," "Daybreak" and "American Morning," and on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" and "Imus in the Morning." Previously, "Wrong Choices, Wrong Leader" ran in major markets in seven battleground states Oct. 11-18.

The radio and TV spots will be available for viewing/listening today at 8 p.m. (EDT) on the UAW Web site -- http://www.uaw.org/ .
