PowerWorks Announces 'Focus Force' Distributor Program

NOVI, Mich., Oct. 12, 2004 -- It's been in the works for some time -- the talk of various chat rooms -- but today PowerWorks, the Cosworth Technology, Inc. product group, announced the Distributor Program for their first product launch, "Focus Force." "We have had an overwhelming amount of interest in this product during its development period, so we're very excited today," said Rodger Olson, Aftermarket Manager. "We took our time in the design, though, as we wanted everything to be right. We could have rushed something out the door; instead, we set the bar high, based on Cosworth Technology's tradition of high-quality, performance products. And our engineers have succeeded in reaching that goal," Olson added.

The Focus Force Supercharger Kit is a revolutionary design, in that a two- piece unit incorporates the blower, intercooler and manifold. "This makes installation remarkably simple," said Harvey Kulka, Marketing Manager for PowerWorks. "Earlier this spring, we watched on television the complicated installation of one of our competitor's products. We came up with a superior design so installation can be done in a day or less, without the need to relocate any engine components, perform any fabrication or cut into the car itself," Kulka added.

Testing of the Focus Force Kit began in June and development has been non- stop since then. "The output is exactly what we have been advertising and it's real -- verified by SAE engine dyno testing," said Mark Blaha, Chief Project Engineer. "We are seeing 220 bhp at 6800 RPM, and 200 pound-feet of torque, which is what we predicted early on," Blaha added.

A month ago, the kit was demonstrated to some local Focus enthusiasts at Gingerman Raceway in western Michigan. "It was an impressive show; we were blowing the doors off base Zetec and SVT cars," commented Rodger Olson. "We had production suspension and brakes, though, so we were definitely slower through the curves, but we drove away from everyone else on the straights," he added.

Additionally, as the kit has improved through development, so has the price. "We were originally targeting an MSRP of $5,300.00, but officially, the introductory MSRP price will now be $4,750.00, a difference of over $500.00," said Harvey Kulka. "You normally see it go the other way, with a higher sale price than originally planned, but this demonstrates the depth of talent and level of efficiency of our engineering staff, who not only brought the project in on time but under budget, which resulted in this savings being passed on to the consumer," Kulka notes.

"Our distribution program has been simplified, also," said Kulka. "Instead of multiple pricing tiers, we provide a product pricing incentive simply by committing to purchasing a minimum of two supercharger kits over six months. We don't want to get into a long, messy agreement that takes a lawyer to figure out -- just a commitment to be a partner and to move the product into the retail market -- it's that simple."

Distributor Kits are now available from PowerWorks. "You can contact us today if you're interested in becoming a distributor of PowerWorks products. After gathering the necessary financial data and processing your first order, we send out a distributor kit that includes a banner, brochures, product information, posters, and distribution terms. We are also making these kits available to prospective distributors for $40.00," said Kulka.
