LANNACH, Austria, October 7 -- MAGNA Drivetrain announces the successful start of serial production of the Integrated Transfer Case (ITC) for the new Land Rover Discovery III (L319). The manufacturing and assembly of the transfer cases will take place in MAGNA Drivetrain's facilities in Lannach and Ilz (Austria).

The ITC for the Land Rover Discovery III represents another milestone in all-wheel-drive technology. It introduces outstanding product features, combined with Land Rover's patented and unique Terrain Response (TM) system.

The ITC is a system for permanent all-wheel drive with constant torque distribution. The driver is supported on- or offroad by intelligent plate lock. The low gear enables safe driving even in the hardest off-road conditions.

With the supply of the ITC for the Land Rover Discovery III, MAGNA Drivetrain expands the successful cooperation with Land Rover which already started in 1997 with the supply of all-wheel-drive components for the Land Rover Freelander.

As one of the seven operating groups of Magna International Inc., MAGNA Drivetrain is a leading supplier of drivetrain components and - systems with the focus to all-wheel-drive vehicles. Together with the entire vehicle competence of MAGNA STEYR, MAGNA Drivetrain offers complete solutions up to system integration into vehicles.

MAGNA Drivetrain currently has facilities in Austria, the USA and Mexico and employs about 1.500 people worldwide.

With the supply of the transfer case for the Land Rover Discovery III, MAGNA Drivetrain strengthens it's leading market position in the development and manufacturing of all-wheel-drive systems in Europe.
