Visteon Adds Motorola Radio Interface to TACNET(TM) Law Enforcement Vehicle Product

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 28 -- Visteon Corporation is adding Motorola, Inc.'s two-way land mobile radio technology to the broad range of law-enforcement technologies ready to be integrated as part of Visteon's TACNET(TM) program. TACNET is an in-vehicle command and control system designed to improve public safety, officer safety, officer efficiency and interoperability while dramatically reducing police car interior clutter.

"We are pleased to have Motorola on board in the delivery of the TACNET product," said Greg Gyllstrom, Visteon's vice president and general manager, aftermarket and North American glass. "This agreement with Motorola marks the addition of a key player in law enforcement radio systems."

Motorola is now part of a growing group of the law enforcement industry's leading technology suppliers working with TACNET. The Motorola agreement for the SB9600 Radio protocol allows Visteon to continue to expand TACNET's radio compatibility. TACNET is also compatible with several emergency lighting, video, radar and mobile data computing products. Visteon applied its engineering and vehicle systems expertise to provide an integrated solution delivering interoperability, reduced clutter and improved officer safety and efficiency.

In working with the leading law enforcement industry suppliers, Visteon can offer a system that works with the equipment a police agency is already using. For example, the TACNET system is compatible with a variety of lightbars and radios that are used by police agencies today. Furthermore, this relationship helps ensure that as technology evolves, Visteon will be well positioned to make TACNET compatible with tomorrow's in-vehicle law enforcement equipment.

In addition to working with leading law enforcement suppliers, Visteon collaborated with several police agencies including California Highway Patrol, Michigan State Police, Maryland State Police and Boston Police Department -- all of which provided valuable officer field test feedback.

Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service supplier that delivers consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket.
