Autobytel Joins Fight Against Breast Cancer by Sponsoring 13th Annual Komen Orange County Race for the Cure(R)

5K Event Expected to Draw 30,000 Participants and Supporters, Raise $1.5 Million for Breast Cancer Prevention

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 23 -- Irvine-based Autobytel Inc. has joined the fight against breast cancer by becoming an official sponsor of the 13th annual Komen Orange County Race for the Cure(R), the largest 5K event in California dedicated solely to raising money for breast cancer prevention.

"It's estimated that 40,110 women and 470 men will die from breast cancer in 2004, so this is clearly an issue that affects us all," said Autobytel President and CEO Jeffrey Schwartz. "Autobytel is proud to join with our local community to support such a critical cause."

The Race will be held on Sunday, September 26th at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. In all, 25,000 participants are expected to run or walk through the USAT&F-certified course, and another 5,000, including supporters, survivors and volunteers, will also be in attendance. Autobytel will lend another level of support to the race and has formed a corporate team to participate in the run/walk.

The Orange County Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's goal is to raise $1.5 million from the event, which has raised $10 million over the last 12 years. Seventy-five percent of Race proceeds go to local Komen outreach, education, screening and treatment programs for breast health and breast cancer. The remainder goes to the national Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program.

"We realize there are many worthy charities to support," said Marica Pendjer, Race co-chair. "That's why we're so grateful to sponsors like Autobytel. With their help, we're getting ever closer to a cure for breast cancer."

Participants may register online at www.occure.com or request Race information/team packets and individual entry forms by calling 714/957-9165. Registration is also available at 6:30 am on Race day.

Autobytel's Race sponsorship continues a growing tradition of community involvement for the company. Endorsed by government leaders, school officials and police departments nationwide, Autobytel's grassroots Take the Pledge to Slow Down safe driving campaign is combating unsafe neighborhood driving in communities nationwide.
