Peugeot at the 2005 Paris Motor Show

Fifty-two vehicles and three concept cars on 4000 sqm - these are the key figures for Peugeot's exhibition at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show. Here's the official press release:

Driving pleasure - in a bold new light A dream becomes reality, the 1007, with central double zero accentuating its originality, occupies centre stage on a stand designed by Peugeot to reflect the dynamism of a Marque in constant search of new avenues for driving pleasure. This International Motor Show also gives Peugeot the chance to demonstrate the announced expansion of its product range, characterized mainly this year by the launch of Peugeot's twofold offer in the upper medium segment: the 407 saloon, recently joined by its alter ego, the 407 SW. This expansion has been accompanied by a return to commercial growth. Indeed, with 1,021,000 vehicles sold in the first half of 2004, the company posted a 6 % increase in sales to record its best-ever halfyearly performance. No fewer than fifty-two vehicles and three concept cars are assembled over a surface area of 4,000 m2 to capture the public imagination at the world's leading motor show in terms of visitor numbers. Following the example of previous events, the exhibition space associates the environment with driving pleasure and employs natural materials, vegetation, water and various fragrances to instil a sense of freshness and well-being.

Concept cars Concept cars provide an opportunity for stylists to explore new avenues with the aim of doing one thing: exciting the imagination. The concept cars presented this year in Paris are no exception to the rule and testify to the fertile creativity of the Marque's design centre.

Peugeot 1007 RC Only recently unveiled, the innovative 1007 is already causing a stir. With the design of the original car giving it both elegance and dynamism, designers embarked on an exercise in styling that would strengthen its personality still further. The 1007 is a car with multiple facets. In this « RC » livery, the 1007 reveals a more sporty and exclusive character, whilst retaining a certain realism. This exercise in styling is firmly supported on 18'' alloy wheels with a « forked » design and a « chrome shadow » finish. Through the wheels, black lacquered brake calipers with the Peugeot name painted in white are visible. The headlamps are highlighted by chrome trims, which make the headlamps stand out, while the grille itself is circled with a chrome bead. The door mirror deflectors have a carbon finish and an RC badge is located in the extension of each door rail. At the rear, an aerodynamic black spoiler extends the roof. At the bottom of the rear bumper skirt, there is a grille with a chrome-plated surround, from each end of which protrudes a chrome-plated exhaust trim. The passenger compartment is also distinctive, thanks to a leather-lined fascia panel with visible stitching, evident also on the steering wheel and door panels. The roof and fittings receive a deep grey alcantara finish. The central console has a carbon finish, while the rim of the air vents is brushed aluminium. At the top of the front seat backs there is a badge with the RC emblem. To complete the exercise, three special and naturally interchangeable Caméléo interior trims have been reserved for the 1007 RC; the first is « Titane », with seat inserts, door pane inserts and rear armrest covers in perforated grey alcantara with matching fascia panel trims in the same material, the passenger side having a pocket style finish. The second RC Caméléo called « Fusion » is red, while the third, « Cadmium », is saffron yellow. To power this 1007 RC, the 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine with double overhead camshafts and 16 valves offers a power of 105 kW or around 140 bhp. The wheels and suspension are from the standard 1007 range.

Peugeot 907 Passionate about pleasure Day to day dreams create different desires that fade or disappear as dawn breaks. Sometimes, they leave a strong impression but often, only a memory remains of the dream, nestled deep in one's sub-conscious. Stylists, engineers and designers from different generations, all have these dreams. They, however, can turn their dreams into reality; they can express their dreams through their designs. As a group, they enthusiastically swap ideas, discuss concepts and agree on the particular ideas. The Peugeot 907 is the result of such a dream. It is a GT coupé, created with reference to the past, the present and the future. This is the archetypal touring car, discreet, but processing a sculpted and elegant shape, luxurious on account of the choice of materials it incorporates, and also extremely sporty as a result of its styling and its unrivalled engineering credentials. The 907 is a two-seater coupé, modern but also classic. As in the time of the great coachbuilders, this coupé embodies one of the finest engineering dreams of combining a large capacity engine within a classical shape, achieving a genuine synergy of advanced technology and motoring tradition. The 6.0 litre V12 engine (368 kW or 500 bhp) is positioned longitudinally behind the front axle; connected by a small propshaft, it transmits its power to a six-speed gearbox placed longitudinally in front of the rear axle. The wheelbase of this GT coupé is 2.50 m, its length 4.37 m, its width 1.88 m, while its height culminates at 1.21 m and its passenger compartment, designed to accommodate two people comfortably, is situated just ahead of the rear axle to allow for a long bonnet. The kerb weight is around 1 400 kg.

The structure consists principally of a carbon fibre shell, to which the mechanical components, for example, the four double wishbone suspension units, are attached.

Set into the bonnet, a glazed panel reveals twelve intake trumpets reminiscent of a fairground organ.

The roof and front windscreen form a single glazed area in harmony with the rear windscreen. Side vents are situated in the front wings and rear quarter panels, adjacent to the glazed roof, while a retractable rear spoiler is incorporated in the tailgate.

Two exhaust pipes emerge from either side of the car, which is equipped with 18'' wheels and Michelin tyres, 275/40 at the front and 345/35 at the rear. The body is painted Molybdenum Grey.

Brown leather and light grey alcantara trim is used to cover both the interior and the seats. The steering wheel rim and the gear lever knob have authentic wood inlays. The instrument panel, although digital, is displayed in analogue style and the touch screen of the central console is connected to a PC (GPS, MP3 player, etc). A special area has been developed for storing luggage in the 907.
