VW Phaetons in Hollywood-Yeah Yeah Hollywood-I Can See It Now

Volkswagen's Luxury Phaeton and Dell Televisions Align Themselves With Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 -- VLife and Daily Variety announced today their partnerships with Volkswagen and Dell, which will both be official sponsors for this year's Emmy(R) celebrity issue by VLife. The Volkswagen luxury Phaeton will take center stage during the evening along side Dell's LCD Television lineup. The Phaeton is the German automaker's flagship car and a dramatic expression of the Volkswagen brand's unique character. Dell's LSD televisions come high-definition ready and are perfect for watching this fall's HDTV television programming.

Volkswagen and Dell partnered with VLife, the newest magazine from Variety and published by Reed Business Information. Selected as one of Folio Magazines' "2003 Launches of the Year," VLife is an intelligent collection of original editorial and photography focusing on the people and passions of the entertainment industry. Its influential readership turns to VLife for insightful edit on their industry and their lives. VLife also provides its readers with lifestyle edit covering a range of topics including travel, cultural activities and entertainment.

Volkswagen, along with Dell, will sponsor VLife's latest issue and its party, which celebrates the Emmy's(R) with a special photography portfolio shot by Mark Abrahams, Matt Ducklo, Jill Greenberg, Sian Kennedy, Mark Laita, Gillian Laub and Platon, featuring this year's nominees including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kiefer Sutherland, Glenn Close, Allison Janney, Mary Louise Parker and more.

Dell entered into the entertainment-technology market last year with high-definition LCD TVs. Available in 17-, 23- and 30-inch options, Dell LCD TVs offer superior picture quality that is approximately twice as bright as standard flat panel displays. The company recently announced plans to kickoff a plasma television line during the fall television and football seasons.

In less than a year, Dell televisions have received positive reviews from publications like PC Magazine and PC World. Further indicating that Dell has made its mark on the entertainment industry, the company's products have recently made the cut in movies like 'The Manchurian Candidate' and 'The Day After Tomorrow,' and have appeared in top lifestyle magazines such as 'Cargo,' 'GQ,' and 'Stuff.'

Volkswagen has generously donated five Phaetons for the gala event. Celebrities will have the opportunity to enjoy a ride in this luxury car the night of the party, which takes place on August 16th at the W Hotel in Westwood (celebrities will be announced shortly). A Phaeton will also be on display at the entrance of the VLife party.

The Phaeton is one of the newest high-end vehicles to be seen on the streets of Bel Air, Malibu, Madison Avenue, Palm Beach, Rodeo Drive, etc. Starting at $64,600, Phaeton offers two powerful engine configurations: the high-torque 4.2 liter V8 that goes from 0 to 60 in 6.7 seconds and the top-of-line 6.0 W12 engine that registers a remarkable 420 horses and accelerates from 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds.

All Phaetons offer Volkswagen's exclusive 4MOTION(R), a permanent all-wheel-drive system; air suspension; and a world-class climate control system called Climatronic(R), a draft-free, four-zone interior with humidity sensors and separate temperature controls. The Phaeton also features such high end accessories as heatable and ventilated seats, power sunshades, an electronic trunk, radio frequency remote locking system, and electronic parking assistance.
