Replica Grand Prix Go-Kart Track to Host Charity Event Before It Opens to the Public

Proceeds Will Be Donated to the Hole in the Wall Gang, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Denver, Auraria Foundation Scholarship Fund and Others

DENVER, Aug. 5 -- Join us as we kick-off race week 2004 with the return of go-kart racing at the 2004 CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver! The Mini Grand Prix will operate on a scaled replica of the real track, situated in the Auraria Campus parking lots between 7th and 9th along Auraria Parkway. All are welcome as spectators at Saturday's charity event, and beginning Sunday, the track will be open to the public.

   Location:           Auraria Campus, 9th and Auraria Parkway

   Time:               10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

   Karts provided by:  The Track at Centennial

The Mini Grand Prix of Denver track will be open to the public for go-kart racing the week of August 8 - 15, 2004*. The Mini Grand Prix track will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8 - Thursday, August 12th, and from 8:00 am to 8:00 p.m. during race weekend. A racing suit, helmet, and neck collar will be provided, and the cost is $25.00 for 10 laps. Group rates are also available and reservations are recommended for groups larger than 10 racers. IMPORTANT NOTE: Racers must wear shoes with socks (no open-toe shoes) no shorts (denim is preferred), and shirts must have sleeves (long or short). Racers can be as young as 8 years old but children ages 8-17 must be accompanied by a parent.

*In the event of inclement weather on Aug. 7th, the scheduled race will take place on Sunday Aug. 8th.
