Congressional High School Arts Exhibition Opens - General Motors Supports 2004 Student Arts Competition/Exhibition

Washington, DC -- Kathleen York - co-star in the West Wing television series - joins more than 300 students, leaders of the U.S. Congress and General Motors officials in a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opening this year's Congressional high school art exhibition today at noon in the Cannon House Office Building Room 345.

The exhibit, organized by the Congressional Arts Caucus, is the result of art competitions conducted in congressional districts by House members. One entry is selected from each participating district and displayed as part of the exhibit in the Cannon building corridor leading to the U.S. Capitol. More than 300 young artists from across the United States will participate in the ceremony.

"The artistic work brought to our nation's Capitol by these students exemplifies the creative and talented energy of our country's young people," said Ken W. Cole, GM Vice President, Government Relations. "This exhibit will be enjoyed by thousands who visit the Capitol throughout the year, and General Motors is honored to have been involved with this terrific program for the past 20 years."

The exhibit will be on display through June, 2005.
