Chrysler Group Reports Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales for April

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 24, 2004 -- Chrysler Group reported Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle (CPOV) sales of 8,758 units in April 2004, a decrease of 2 percent versus April 2003. Year-to-date sales totaled 33,872 units, an increase of 12 percent over year-to-date totals for 2003 when 30,208 units were sold.

"Although April didn't meet our expectations, strong sales momentum in late April helped to achieve our third best month ever and confirms our long- term CPOV strategy," said Ray Fisher, Chrysler Group Vice President - Fleet and Remarketing. "We're outpacing the industry with our results. We are optimistic about continued volume growth within the CPOV segment."

Chrysler brand sales totaled 2,527 units in April 2004, a decrease of 12 percent over April 2003. Several nameplates posted sales gains in the month of April. Chrysler Town & Country posted sales of 639 units, an increase of 7 percent compared to April 2003. Chrysler PT Cruiser sales increased 44 percent to 494 units versus April 2003.

Dodge Neon sales increased 49 percent to 422 units. Dodge Ram posted sales of 939 units, an increase of 54 percent compared to April 2003. Overall, the Dodge brand posted sales of 4,452 units, breaking even with April 2003 sales.

Jeep(R) Liberty sales increased 110 percent to 329 units. Jeep Wrangler posted sales of 246 units, an increase of 2 percent compared to April 2003. Jeep brand sales deceased 21 percent to 1,779 units when compared to April 2003 sales.
