Thomson Delmar Learning to Distribute CDX Global Products

Partnership offers wider selection to automotive technicians and instructors

ALBANY, N.Y., May 24 -- Thomson Delmar Learning, a leader in educational resources for lifelong learning and part of The Thomson Corporation , today announced a distribution agreement with CDX Global, a provider of comprehensive automotive training programs. Under the new agreement, Thomson Delmar Learning becomes exclusive distributor for the CDX product line in 21 states. In time, the partners expect that the distribution relationship will be significantly expanded.

"We know trainers and educators are looking for materials that will offer a high return on their time and financial investment," said Alar Elken, vice president, Technology and Trades Business Unit for Thomson Delmar Learning. "In programs where CDX's interactive training programs have been incorporated, learner knowledge has improved by as much as 200%, while the length of training programs has been shortened by over 40%. Alongside Thomson Delmar Learning's market-leading educational products, we now offer the best combination of support materials to busy instructors and administrators at all program levels."

The CD-ROM-based series includes the new CDX General Service 2.0, CDX Light Vehicle Theory Pack, and CDX Electrical Fundamentals. The titles are based around the simple, but very effective, instructional principles of "Know-See-Do-Prove." They are highly flexible and can be used as teacher resources or in self-paced mode. The learning can be undertaken in the workplace, in school, or at home.

The CDX General Service 2.0 (1-920951-52-6, $3,790) addresses the new NATEF 'General Service' standard -- the entry level program that better prepares students for immediate employment in the automotive industry and that is intended to be a foundation for other ASE certified automotive study programs. The CDX Light Vehicle Theory Pack (1-876645-32-6, $3,495) covers the complete automotive technical curriculum -- everything you need to know about motor vehicles and how they work, whether an individual is servicing them, repairing them, or selling them. The CDX Electrical Fundamentals program (1- 876645-86-5, $899) covers basic theory about automotive electrical systems and components. It is meant to give the technician the fundamental knowledge that is required before any electrical procedure can be started.

In addition, the CDX Light Vehicle Core Theory (1-877097-73-X, $2,495), CDX QuickStart (1-877097-17-9, $1,495), CDX Service Workshop (1-876645-75-X, $1,595), and CDX Communication (1-876645-85-7, $799) CD-ROM series are also included in the distribution agreement.

CDX Global, based in Brisbane, Australia, designs, builds, manufactures, and distributes the highest quality interactive automotive training products. All CDX products are designed for maximum delivery flexibility, from standalone CD-ROMs to broadband Internet, giving automotive instructors more options to suit their needs.
