Tokyo May 19, 2004;(JCNN) - Fuji Heavy Industries has announced plans to implement Subaru Select Monitor III (SSM III), the company's proprietary next-generation fault diagnosis system, in its overseas distributors beginning this August.

The SSM III system, comprising a communications unit to transmit data with the in-vehicle computer and fault diagnosis software that can be installed on commercially available computers, improves diagnostic capability through prompt and accurate inspection in the vehicle's various electronically controlled systems including the engine and the automatic transmission.

The new fault diagnosis system has a data transmission speed 10 times faster than previous models.
