Engineers From Altair and AK Steel Awarded With 2004 SAE Transaction Paper Honor

TROY, Mich.--May 1, 20047, 2004--At the 2004 SAE World Congress, a technical paper written by two engineers from Altair Engineering, Inc. and one from AK Steel Corporation has been selected to appear in the 2004 SAE Transaction, the most prestigious publication of technical papers produced by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Gagan Tandon and Sanjaya Fonseka of Altair Engineering and John Tack of AK Steel Corporation co-authored "Lightweight Tailgates with Stainless Steel", a technical paper written to address the automotive industry's increasing demand for lighter, more cost-efficient products.

AK Steel commissioned Altair Engineering, a pioneer in global product design consulting and engineering technology, to design a lightweight tailgate using stainless steel that would be easier to open and more resistant to dent and corrosion damage.

The SAE Transaction is a premium SAE publication containing a collection of only the best technical papers from each SAE conference. During each conference, submitted papers are peer-reviewed and rated, and the best papers are added to the collection. The Transactions are preserved by SAE as permanent literature, and are used worldwide for reference and research in both the business and academic communities.
