AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Slight Decrease at the Pumps

HOUSTON--April 30, 2004--After three straight weeks of increases, pump prices decreased according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.

The Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve dropped three-tenths of a penny, averaging $1.69 a gallon -- about the same as last week. Motorists in San Antonio and Corpus Christi are paying the least at an average of $1.66 a gallon. Corpus Christi posted the biggest decrease of more than two cents. Dallas tops the list at an average of $1.70 a gallon -- down a penny compared to last week.

"These gas price decreases may only be temporary as the outlook for the spring and summer continues to look difficult for consumers," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "Demand is expected to be at a record high this summer while supplies may be tight."

AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
