Exide is Exclusive Supplier to Farm & Home Supply

Retailer is Newest Exide Customer in the Mid-States Buying Group

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., April 12 -- Exide Technologies, (BULLETIN BOARD: EXDTQ) ( www.exide.com ) a global leader in stored electrical-energy solutions, has been named the exclusive battery supplier to Farm & Home Supply. Exide is supplying a complete range of batteries to all of the company's seven retail locations in southern Illinois and northeast Missouri.

Farm & Home Supply, a family-owned business, was founded in 1960 in Quincy, Illinois. It provides animal care supplies, automotive products, clothing, farm supplies and sporting goods primarily to customers in rural markets. The retailer is affiliated with Mid-States Distributing Company, Inc., a buying organization serving home, farm and fleet retailers. Mid- States has 52 members with more than 500 retail locations nationwide. Exide already supplies other Mid-States members in 20 states in the South, Midwest, and Western U.S.

Exide has begun to supply Farm & Home Supply with a complete range of automotive, agricultural, light truck, lawn & garden, heavy duty, motorcycle, marine and golf car batteries under the Exide Champion(R) and NASCAR Select(R) brands and the Mid-States Dura-Start private label. The product line includes a wide selection of batteries to meet various climate and performance needs as well as applications.

The Exide Salina, Kansas, facility, the largest automotive battery manufacturing plant in the world, will produce products for Farm & Home Supply. The batteries will be supplied through Exide's distribution network in St. Louis, Missouri.
