Toyota Announces New "Standard" Camry, Price Raises on 10 Other Models

TORRANCE, Calif., April 2 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced price adjustments on 10 select models in its vehicle lineup. In addition to the price adjustments, a new value-driven Standard Camry model has been added to the current Camry lineup.

The new Standard Camry will be powered by Toyota's 2.4-liter four-cylinder VVT-i engine and available in both a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions. The Standard Camry will be equipped with an array of standard features including air conditioning, power windows with driver's auto-down, power door locks, power driver seat with lumbar support, color-keyed power outside mirrors, cruise control, driver and front passenger multi-stage airbags, Deluxe 3-in-1 AM/FM/cassette/CD with six speakers and on-glass antenna, and a host of others.

The base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2004 Standard Camry ranges from $18,045 for models equipped with the five-speed manual to $18,875 for models equipped with the four-speed automatic. Prices for all other Camry grades remain unchanged.

The price adjustment for 10 select Toyota models reflects an average MSRP increase for the entire Toyota model lineup of $79, or 0.4 percent. The 10 models receive the following average MSRP increases: the Camry Solara coupe, $100, or 0.4 percent; the RAV4 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), $100, or 0.5 percent; the Avalon full-size sedan, $100, or 0.3 percent; the Echo subcompact, $110, or 1.0 percent; the 4Runner mid-size SUV, $100, or 0.3 percent, the Celica sport coupe, $180, or 0.9 percent; the Sienna van, $200, or 0.8 percent; the Tacoma compact pickup truck, $200, or 1.1 percent; the Prius hybrid sedan, $300, or 1.5 percent; and the Land Cruiser full-size SUV, $500, or 0.9 percent.

The price adjustment on all 10 models will take effect on April 3. The new Standard Camry model will begin arriving at dealerships in May.
