American Suzuki Achieves a 22 Percent First Quarter Sales Increase

BREA, Calif.--April 1, 2004--American Suzuki Motor Corp. took another significant step toward reaching its sales growth goals by achieving a 22 percent growth in first quarter sales compared to its 2003 first quarter, selling a total of 6,921 vehicles in March for a combined total of 17,261 units in the first quarter.

"We are very pleased with the strides ASMC has made in the first quarter, and the sales, product, marketing and customer service milestones we have reached since the launch of our 357 Plan," said Koichi Suzuki, president of American Suzuki's Automotive Operations. "As we look into the future, we anticipate continued success with new product introductions, aggressive advertising and promotions, the rapid growth of Suzuki Square dealerships and continued customer service and satisfaction programs."

The linchpin in ASMC's growth plan is the rapid introduction of value-packed new vehicles into its product line. Appearing in U.S. showrooms late last year, the top-selling Suzuki Verona and Forenza combine Italian styling with the performance, power, passenger room and standard features usually associated with considerably higher-priced models. The two new vehicles will be closely followed by the launch of seven additional models by 2007, including the Suzuki Reno, a five-door compact crossover vehicle slated to go on sale later this year.
