SmarTire Installed on Kuala Lumpur Monorail

New application expands SmarTire's market for tire pressure monitoring systems.

RICHMOND, BC, March 30 -- SmarTire Systems Inc. (SMTR: OTCBB) today announced that its tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) have been installed on the monorail system in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The SmarTire system was supplied by Rodgard, a division of Hutchinson Industries, and utilizes their run-flat systems that the monorail cars ride on. This innovative application of SmarTire's TPMS technology expands the Company's global market and sales potential.

The 8.5 km Kuala Lumpur Monorail is fully elevated with 11 stations and carries 85,000 passengers per day. The system uses 12 units of 2-car trains and operates within the Central Business District, linking the existing two light rail transport systems. Monorails operate very quietly because they run on standard pressurized rubber tires installed with run-flat systems.

Rodgard is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of tire mobility inserts (runflat systems) for the wheeled vehicle industry and provides products for security, military and commercial applications.
