He currently works on Toyota's Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle program. Partain joined Toyota's Alternative Fueled Vehicles Group in 1999 and worked on the first Prius pre-launch activities such as the "Prius Demo Program." He also was involved in product planning for Prius and on Toyota's overall cross-car hybrid strategy. Late last year, Motor Trend magazine named the Prius as the 2004 Car of the Year, marking the first time a hybrid vehicle has received the coveted Golden Calipers Award.
