DCX Monica E. Emerson Named To Board of Directors of National Coalition of 100 Black Women

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 5, 2004 -- Monica E. Emerson, DaimlerChrysler Executive Director -- Corporate Diversity Office, was recently appointed to the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW). The position is a two-year appointment.

NCBW is a non-profit organization dedicated to social change for women of color. Founded in 1981, the organization is made up of socially conscious female leaders who are committed to furthering equity and empowerment for women of color in the society-at-large, and enhancing the quality of resources for the development of disadvantaged youths.

"All of us at DaimlerChrysler are dedicated to building social and economic conditions that help people and communities prosper," said Emerson. "Working along with the NCBW allows DaimlerChrysler to further connect with the people and the communities where we conduct business."

Emerson, who was appointed to the newly created Executive Director position last year, is responsible for the overall design, development and operation of DaimlerChrysler's corporate diversity strategies.

In addition to her work at DaimlerChrysler, Emerson is an active community leader supporting organizations such as Focus: HOPE and the Oakland County Employment Diversity Council. She is a respected strategist on diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and she received the "Odyssey Award" from her alma mater Oakland University last year, and the "Leadership in Diversity" award from the Career Communication Group in 1999.

"Monica's generous leadership and her commitment to diversity and fairness for all people has enriched the quality of life for those at DaimlerChrysler and we look forward to benefiting from her experience and hard work here at NCBW," said Shirley Poole, Executive Director of NCBW.

NCBW is based in New York and has 7,500 members throughout the United States. NCBW is dedicated to community service, the creation of wealth for social change, the enhancement of career opportunities for women of color through networking and strategically designed programs, and the empowerment of women of color to meet their diverse needs.
