Highest Price Ever to be Paid for a New Car

NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2004 -- The record sum of over $2.1 million dollars will be paid for a new car. The amount is the largest ever-recorded in history. A former Ford model and New York businesswoman Juliana Terian will be making the payment at a check presentation ceremony hosted at Christie's Monday January 12th, 11:00 A.M., 20 Rockefeller Plaza (49th ST. between 5th and 6th Ave.), 2nd Floor, Executive Boardroom. The high-powered sports car being purchased is a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. It has the capability of 200 mile per hour speed and can travel from 0-60 in three seconds. The funds raised will be donated to developing sports programs around the world for children through the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The Laureus WORLD SPORTS ACADEMY consists of 41 legendary athletes including Boris Becker, John Mcenroe, Edwin Moses and Tony Hawk who volunteer their time and effort to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation was set up to fund and promote the use of sport as a tool for social change.
