Bridgestone unit to sell bicycles with self-inflating tires

TOKYO January 11, 2004; Japan Today reported that Bridgestone Cycle Co said Friday it will put on sale Jan 25 a lineup of bicycles that require no inflator because their tires have a special hub ensuring the tire is filled with the right amount of air by simply pedaling.

The bicycles incorporate the Air Hub with a built-in rotary air pump developed by Nakano Iron Works Co, a leading bicycle hub manufacturer based in Mihara, Osaka Prefecture. (Kyodo News)
