AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Gas Prices Remain Stable
HOUSTON--Oct. 2, 20034, 2003--Gasoline prices in Texas remained stable this week, according to the Weekend Gas Watch by AAA Texas. The Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline is $1.43 - the same as last week's average and only a penny more than last year's average. Corpus Christi remains the cheapest for the seventh consecutive week, averaging $1.36 a gallon - down less than a penny from last week. San Antonio is next at $1.37 an average, up slightly less than a penny. Although Dallas tops the list again at $1.44 a gallon, it dropped about a penny since a week ago, and it's only two pennies away from last year's average of $1.42 a gallon.
"Retail prices finally appear to be stabilizing throughout the state," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "The current statewide average is only a penny away from last year's average when gasoline inventories were plentiful and prices remained steady throughout the Thanksgiving holiday. Barring any unforeseen problems, motorists should expect to see the same this year."
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
