Anuvu Clean Urban Vehicle (CUV) Places Third at 2003 Challenge Bibendum

Hybrid Fuel Cell Car Outperforms Vehicles From Major Auto Manufacturers At Largest Environmental Vehicle Competition

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 15 -- A hydrogen-powered car from the California fuel cell company Anuvu placed third overall at the recent Michelin-sponsored Challenge Bibendum competition, the world's largest event showcasing environmental vehicles. Anuvu's car tied with Honda for the highest score of any fuel cell vehicle in the competition, winning five gold medals and one silver medal.

"The results of the competition prove two important points in the environmental vehicle discussion: Compared to other alternative energies, fuel cell/battery hybrid vehicles are proving to be the most competitive and viable technology as they combine the advantages of both the hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. Over 100 environmentally friendly vehicles from the top auto manufacturers around the world participated in the event, using energy sources including gasoline, diesel, electric, bio-fuel, hydrogen, natural gas and liquid petroleum gas. Anuvu's Clean Urban Vehicle (CUV) received perfect ratings in five out of eight categories, tying the car for third-place in the competition. The categories Anuvu received A's included: "Emission," "Noise," "Local CO2 Emissions," "CO2 Minimum" and "CO2 Maximum." Anuvu received a silver medal in the "Range" category.
