HOUSTON--Sept. 19, 2003--Retail gasoline prices moved even lower this week, with all Texas cities showing decreases, according to the Weekend Gas Watch by AAA Texas.

The Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline is $1.52 - a three cents drop since last week, and a six cents decrease since two weeks ago. Last year, a gallon of gas in Texas averaged $1.33. For the third consecutive week, Corpus Christi shows the biggest decrease at nearly four cents a gallon. It also has the cheapest fuel in the state at $1.45 a gallon. San Antonio is not far behind at $1.47 a gallon, down more than three cents. Dallas tops the list at $1.54 a gallon, a drop of two pennies compared to a week ago.

"After enduring a late summer of skyrocketing gasoline prices, Texas motorists are finally seeing some relief," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "Barring any unforeseen problems with gasoline supply and distribution, motorists can expect more decreases at the pumps."

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.
