Hyundai Kicks Off FIFA Women's World Cup USA 2003 Sponsorship With 189-Vehicle Donation to FIFA

Fast-Growing Automaker Plans Advertising, Web Site and Dealership Promotions Around Fastest Growing Sport in the World

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 25 -- Though soccer fans will have to wait until September for matches to begin, Hyundai kicked off the Federation Internationale de Football (FIFA) Women's World Cup early by presenting 189 Hyundai vehicles to FIFA officials for their exclusive use throughout the tournament. Hyundai's activities surrounding the FIFA Women's World Cup, coordinated by U.S. marketing and sales arm Hyundai Motor America, include interactive displays at FIFA Women's World Cup tournament events, online games and contests ( www.hyundaiusa.com ), advertising, dealership displays and participation in the FIFA Women's World Cup Road Show, which will pass through nine cities as a pre-tournament promotion.

Hyundai will badge Santa Fe SUVs, and Sonata and XG350 sedans with FIFA Women's World Cup USA 2003 logos, and the vehicles will be staged at all tournament venues. The vehicles will also be used throughout the tournament by FIFA officials and team members. At the conclusion of the FIFA Women's World Cup, all the vehicles will be sold back to Hyundai's dealers for resale.

"Aligning the Hyundai brand with the fastest growing sport in the world, women's soccer, is a natural fit and we are excited to be taking such an active role in the FIFA Women's World Cup events," said R.S. Cho, General Manager, Sports Marketing Team, Hyundai Motor Company. "The late decision to move the FIFA Women's World Cup to the U.S. was actually a huge benefit to Hyundai as accelerating U.S. sales indicate a growing awareness of the value Hyundai cars and SUVs represent."

FIFA officials will experience first-hand the value of the Hyundai brand in the XG 350, Santa Fe and Sonata. The Hyundai vehicle lineup for 2004 also includes the Tiburon sports coupe, the Elantra compact sedan and GT five-door and the Accent sub-compact. Each Hyundai vehicle is backed by The Hyundai Advantage -- America's Best Warranty, offering 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain coverage, five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage and five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance.
