A camera is placed around the gearshift and is attached to a laptop containing computer algorithms. The camera tracks hand gestures and translates them into the appropriate command determined by the researchers. Other researchers are working to minimize distractions that drivers face by using voice-recognition systems to connect the car's electronics to cell phones and personal handheld computers, the article says. |
