Wrenches Are Thrown and Passions Flare in Discovery Channel's Dramatic Reality Series, AMERICAN CHOPPER
- AMERICAN CHOPPER Completes Discovery Channel's 'Full Throttle Monday' Line-up Airing Mondays From 10-11 PM (ET/PT) -
SILVER SPRING, Md., July 9 -- The Discovery Channel presents the tension, tirades and triumphs of a custom motorcycle-building father and son team in its new hit reality series, AMERICAN CHOPPER. Filled with action, suspense and raw family drama, this new series airs on Monday nights from 10- 11 PM (ET/PT) rounding out the Discovery Channel's "Full Throttle Mondays" programming line-up. Reality television veteran, Craig Piligian, whose credits include co-executive producing Survivor 1, 2 and 3, is executive producing this breakout-hit series for the Discovery Channel.
Each episode of AMERICAN CHOPPER portrays the real-life experiences of the series' principle characters -- the New York State father/son team of Orange County Choppers (OCC) -- founder, Paul Teutul Sr. and the chief designer/fabricator, Paul Teutul Jr. Already the show has become the highest rated series on Discovery Channel by profiling "one of the most intriguing relationships on TV" where "the end results are eye-popping motorcycles, plus a reality-TV show so fascinating it leaves you wanting more." AMERICAN CHOPPER captures the Teutul's family dynamics showing how their contrasting styles lead to fiery exchanges as the two work together, fusing their skills and passions to meet seemingly impossible deadlines and build incredible one- of-a-kind custom motorcycles.
The cameras invite viewers to follow the Teutuls as they work in their OCC shop in Rock Tavern, NY building dozens of custom motorcycles and OCC's renowned "theme" bikes including the Jet Bike, the Spiderman Bike, the Black Widow, the Comanche bike, the Cody Project II, the Mikey Blues Bike and the Fireman Bike, built in memory of the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives in September 11. Using innovative story telling techniques throughout, the cameras also go outside the shop and travel with the Teutuls to everything from magazine photo shoots to client unveilings, and family vacations to custom bike shows where "the Pauls" have become renowned celebrities. The relationship between father and son, along with the other employees of OCC, forges a program with a creative balance between top-notch craftsmanship and interactions that can veer from dramatic exchanges to uproarious laughter in seconds. Each episode chronicles their lives and their progression of work within the shop and further revealing more about the Teutuls and the extended OCC family business.
AMERICAN CHOPPER is part of the Discovery Channel's Monday night programming lineup, "Full Throttle Mondays." This lineup includes the new series MONSTER HOUSE at 8 PM ET/PT and MONSTER GARAGE at 9 PM ET/PT and AMERICAN CHOPPER at 10 PM ET/PT.
AMERICAN CHOPPER was co-created by executive producer Craig Piligian and Discovery Channel's director of development, Sean Gallagher. Piligian is currently executive producing a new reality series, Cupid, with Simon Cowell (American Idol), which will premiere on CBS this summer. In addition, Piligian's Pilgrim Films and Television is developing numerous other projects for Discovery Channel including Dirty Work, Covert Action, and American Hot Rod (all working titles). For the Discovery Channel, Sean Gallagher is executive producer and Clark Bunting is the executive vice president and general manager.
